PICS: This guy has managed to pair all the Irish counties with Simpsons characters

Alan Loughnane

Brilliant!

The Simpsons has a cult following in Ireland and while it’s a long way from its heyday, we could watch some of those golden episodes from Season 2 to 12 all day long.

It’s up there with Father Ted for quotes and memes, and you won’t find a WhatsApp group around the country that hasn’t had a Simpsons quote thrown into it at some stage.

Come on…

So we’ve established that the Simpsons is a favoured show of the Irish people, but did you know that many of the names sound kind of like Irish counties.

Well, Brian Quinn did, and he uploaded them to the Ireland Simpsons Fans group on Facebook, which his friends Jack Leahy and Paul Loughran set up in January last year.

The group has only grown since then and now has over 21,000 members.

Brian thought of Donegill first and the rest just spiralled from there until he got all 32 counties paired with Simpsons characters.

Speaking to JOE, Brian had plenty to say on the subject.

“I think it’s pretty eerie that so many Simpsons characters’ names fit into the names of our counties,” Brian said. “It’s possibly another one to add to the list of things The Simpsons predicted (e.g. Horse meat scandal, Trump as President).”

You can see some of his work below, but you can check them all out in full here in the Ireland Simpsons Fans group.
