Watch this dark thriller movie airing on TV tonight

The film has a high 91% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Also known as Cerdita, the film follows Sarah (Laura Galán), a teenage girl living in the rural town of Extremadura. She passes the summer by working in her parents' butcher shop.

The target of incessant bullying, one day, while enjoying the town's pool, Sarah is tormented by a clique of popular girls (including Claudia Salas, from Netflix's Elite). Later, however, she witnesses them being brutally kidnapped by a stranger (Richard Holmes), who drives off with them in his van.

"When the police begin asking questions, Sara keeps quiet. Intrigued by the stranger - an interest that's mutual - she's torn between revealing the truth and protecting the man who saved her," the plot synopsis adds.

Thanks to its compelling set-up, its terrific lead turn by Galán, and its rich social commentary, Piggy is a thriller of style and substance.

Holding a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie was nominated for six Goya Awards, the Spanish equivalent of the Oscars. Galán won the Best New Actress prize.

Piggy is airing on TV tonight/tomorrow morning on Film4 at 1.35am. It's also available to rent on Apple TV for €1.99.
