Our TV movie pick for tonight (Wednesday, 21 January) is Polite Society, the very fun British action comedy from 2023.
Set in London, the film follows British-Pakistani teen Ria (Priya Kansara, Bridgerton), who dreams of becoming a stunt performer.

While Ria's parents don't take her aspirations seriously, her older sister, Lena (Ritu Arya, Barbie), helps her make clips, showcasing her martial arts training.
The sisters' strong bond is broken, however, when Lena enters into a whirlwind romance with Salim (Akshay Khanna, Murderbot), a successful geneticist.
Quickly becoming engaged, Lena plans to move to Singapore with him.
Not trusting Salim, Ria believes she must save her older sister from her impending marriage and "attempts to pull off the most ambitious of all wedding heists in the name of independence and sisterhood".
Written and directed by Nida Manzoor (the beloved comedy We Are Lady Parts) in her feature debut, Polite Society boasts fun action scenes, a witty and meta screenplay and two lovable lead turns from Arya and Kansara.
Holding a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score, the movie will screen on TV tonight on Film4 at 9pm. It will also be available to stream on Channel 4's website after it airs.
