WATCH: Simon Cowell calls the Irish priest on Britain’s Got Talent ‘one of my favourite ever auditions’

Rory Cashin

Goosebumps.

The audition process kicked off on Britain’s Got Talent last week, but this weekend it continued with a bang, as Irish priest Father Ray Kelly took to the stage and immediately won over the judges, the crowd and the viewers back home.

Originally from Oldcastle in County Meath, the 64-year-old priest belted out an incredibly powerful rendition of R.E.M.’s ‘Everybody Hurts’, which ended with a standing ovation and the four judges –  Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon – all giving a hugely enthusiastic thumbs up.

In case you needed a reminder, here was that original viral video that sent Father Ray Kelly into the stratosphere, as his slightly tweaked version of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ already has over 60 million views on YouTube.

We imagine after his performance on BGT this weekend, that number is about the skyrocket even further…
