It is a bumper week of Prime Video big movie additions!
One new addition on Prime Video to watch a week if you wanted to. Or just binge the ones you want to watch, whenever you want. Do what you like, we’re not the Streaming Police.
A GUY THING
Jason Lee (remember him??) is caught between two women, Selma Blair and Julia Stiles. 2003 was a weird time for rom-coms.
A QUIET PLACE
A spectacular horror movie directed by, co-written by and starring John Krasinski, as he and his wife (Emily Blunt) and their kids attempt to survive an alien invasion. You can actually check out our interview with Krasinski about the movie right here:
BILL AND TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE
The original (and best?) of the time-travelling BFF comedies with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter.
CAPOTE
Philip Seymour Hoffman stars as the infamous author Truman Capote, during the time when he was writing his book In Cold Blood, as Capote was investigating a series of murders but begins to develop feelings for one of the suspects.
CARRIE
Prime Video has added not just the 1976 classic, but also the terrible 1999 sequel The Rage: Carrie 2, and very average 2013 remake, also simply titled Carrie.
COLD PURSUIT
Liam Neeson headlines this darkly comic revenge thriller about a soft-spoken man who becomes a raging killing machine when a crime syndicate kills his son.
DOUBLE IMPACT
You get two Jean-Claude Van Dammes for the price of one in this not-good-but-still-sorta-fun action thriller.
THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT’S WOMAN
Meryl Streep received one of her many, MANY Oscar nominations for her role in this powerful drama.
FROM BEYOND
A cult classic 1986 horror movie about a scientist that successfully contacts another dimension, only to be turned into a horrific monster and sets up attempting to murder anyone he crosses paths with.
GHOST SHIP
Gabriel Byrne and Julianna Margulies attempt to answer the question that nobody was asking: “What if The Shining… but at sea?” 2002 was a weird time for horror.
HELLBOY
Despite the perfect casting of David Harbour in this 2019 reboot, the version of the big red antihero just isn’t good enough, especially when compared to the Ron Perlman movies.
HOT PURSUIT
Reece Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara try to do what Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy did in The Heat, but mostly fail here. (Also, side note, we just realised that Prime Video has added two completely unrelated movies, one called Cold Pursuit and one called Hot Pursuit. Somebody in there is having the time of their lives with this little hidden streaming joke. Good for them.)
HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2
The first HTTM was good. This one is not.
Loads more Prime Video additions still to go…
INDIANA JONES AND THE RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK
Prime Video has also added Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and The Last Cruade, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
JAMES BOND MOVIES
Prime Video has added some, but not all, of the Bond movies. Here are the additions this week: A View To A Kill, Casino Royale (1967), Casino Royale (2006), Diamonds Are Forever, Die Another Day, Dr. No, For Your Eyes Only, From Russia With Love, Goldeneye, Licence To Kill, The Living Daylights, The Man With The Golden Gun, Moonraker, Never Say Never Again, Octopussy, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, The Spy Who Loved Me, Thunderball, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and You Only Live Twice,
MEAN GIRLS
Still one of the best teen comedies ever made. Successfully made “Fetch” happen, despite all of the odds.
THE MIST
We recently celebrated this movie’s 15 year anniversary, which still features one of the most shocking endings to any movie ever.
THE NANNY DIARIES
Scar-Jo stars in this odd comedy drama about a young woman trying to juggle a job, a personal life and a new romance. So… y’know… life stuff.
NEW YEAR’S EVE
This cast list is insane: Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Ludacris, Robert De Niro, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sarah Paulson, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, and Sofía Vergara. Couldn’t save it from getting 7% on Rotten Tomatoes, though.
NICHOLAS NICKLEBY
This Charles Dickens adaptation also has a very decent cast – Charlie Hunnam, Nathan Lane, Jim Broadbent, Christopher Plummer, Jamie Bell, Anne Hathaway, Alan Cumming, and Timothy Spall – and a much healthier 78% on Rotten Tomatoes.
THE PURGE
Prime Video has added the original and also two of the horror sequels, The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year, to their streaming service.
ROB ROY
Liam Neeson tries to get his own Braveheart going in this okay-ish period adventure movie set in the Scottish highlands.
STILL ALICE
A heartbreaking tale about a linguistics genius (played by Julianne Moore, who won the Oscar for the role) who is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s shortly after her 50th birthday.
