Production stops on Power after crew member dies on set

Carl Kinsella

Shocking news.

A crew member for the popular US TV drama Power died after a tragic accident while filming on location in the early hours of Monday morning (10 December).

Pedro Jimenez, a production assistant on the show, died after he was struck by an SUV at 4:30 in the morning (Eastern Standard Time). Jimenez was laying down traffic cones at the time of the incident. He was 63 years old.

Production on the show, which is executive produced by rapper and actor 50 Cent, has been temporarily shut down — to give cast and crew time to deal with the shock.

The NYPD has opened an investigation into the incident, but Deadline has reported that the driver of the vehicle was also a member of staff on the show.

Jimenez had been working on the show since its outset, in 2014.

Power, which is produced by Starz in the US, is a popular Netflix mainstay in the UK and Ireland. It is currently filming its sixth season.
