WATCH: First trailer for Netflix documentary on the greatest music producer who ever lived

"We only live around 26,000 days. I'm gonna wear them all out!"

Beyond his own acclaim as a trumpeter, producer, conductor, composer and arranger, Quincy Jones’ inimitable gift to discover the biggest talents of the past half of the century is unprecedented.

He has shaped the pop culture landscape for 70 years, mentoring and cultivating the careers of young talents, from Lesley Gore and Michael Jackson to Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith.

The movie is directed by his daughter Rashida Jones (best known for her role as Ann Perkins in Parks & Rec) and Alan Hicks (Keep On Keepin’ On), Quincy aims to seamlessly thread personal vérité moments with private archival footage to reveal a legendary life like no other.

In the footage in the trailer, we also see everyone from Kendrick to Obama to Snoop interacting with the legend, and considering Quincy was no stranger to getting his own way (Will Smith's story on the casting process of Fresh Prince is incredible) to being brazenly honest on his opinions (he didn't hold Ireland in great regard), we imagine the documentary will be filled with some incredible stories.

Quincy will be available to Netflix subscribers from Friday 21 September.
