Renée Zellweger on claims she gave ‘sexual favours’ to Harvey Weinstein

Renée Zellweger has responded to claims that Harvey Weinstein said she swapped sexual favours with him for roles in movies.

Earlier this week, the Bridget Jones star was named in a class-action suit filed by six women against the shamed Hollywood producer.

The lawsuit was filed by six women who alleged that Miramax, The Weinstein Company and its board conspired with the 65-year-old to “perpetuate and conceal widespread sexual harassment and assault.”

According to The Guardian, the plaintiffs said in a statement:

“We are but six women representing hundreds. Dozens have come forward so far, and many more remain in the shadows, still trying to find their courage.”

One woman, named in the document as actress Melissa Sagemiller, claimed that the producer tried to convince her to have sex with him.

She claims that told her “Renée Zellweger, Charlize Theron and other actresses gave sexual favours.”

According to Ms Sagemiller, he allegedly asked her: ‘’Don’t you want your career to be more than just this little teen film?'”

A representative for Renée Zellweger was quick to deny the claims.

In a statement to Fox News, they said:

“If Harvey said that, he’s full of s**t.”

The Bridget Jones star first worked with the shamed producer on A Price Above Rubies in 1998.

It’s the first time that she has spoken publicly about the widespread claims of decades of sexual misconduct by the movie mogul.
