The Rhythm Section is a revenge thriller with a very special interest for Irish film fans

The Rhythm Section

Filmed in Ireland, you might just know some of the locations…

Whenever a movie is filmed in Ireland, Irish film fans immediately raise their interest levels.

Hell, we’re no different than someone from London, Madrid, or Buenos Aires whenever they see their city on screen, but there’s something very cool about seeing our country on screen, particularly in a contemporary setting.

Even if the film is good, bad, or average, there’s a thrill from watching the likes of Haywire, The Guard or The Wind That Shakes the Barley because they’re using locations that we all know so well.

On that note, principal photography on the The Rhythm Section began in Dublin before additional scenes were filmed in Spain. Having seen the first trailer, some people might be able to pick up on some of the familiar locations that feature.

In the move, Blake Lively stars as Stephanie Patrick, an ordinary woman on a path of self-destruction after her family is tragically killed in a plane crash. When Stephanie discovers that the crash was not an accident, she enters a dark, complex world to seek revenge on those responsible and find her own redemption.

The film is based on the novel by Mark Burnell and it has some serious talent involved with director Reed Morano (The Handmaid’s Tale) and the producers of the James Bond film series behind this one, as well as a cast featuring Jude Law and Sterling K. Brown alongside Lively.

The Rhythm Section will be released on 21 February, 2020.
