The Rock reveals the coolest possible co-star for Fast and Furious spin-off
A surefire way to get people to go see this film...
Spin-offs are a tricky business, and emulating the success of the original Fast and Furious franchise will be a mean feat, but the producers have taken a step closer by adding this name to the cast.
Idris Elba will be joining the cast of Hobbs and Shaw, and is slated to play the villain opposite Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, according to The Hollywood Report. Jason Statham will reprise his role as Deckard Shaw.
"I promised we were going to make this Fast & Furious spin off awesome and grow our franchise properly. He’s a bad man (legit bad ass). I better toughen up."
— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) July 5, 2018
We especially admire The Rock clarifying that bad man is patois slang for "legit bad ass," and that he's not just calling Elba a bad person.
Deadpool 2 filmmaker David Leitch is already attached to direct the project. Hobbs and Shaw is set to be released in July 2019.
