RTÉ are looking for the funniest person you know to take part in their new talent competition

Rory Cashin

If you constantly have your friends and family creased up with laughter, then this is for you.

“I’m funny how? I mean, funny like I’m a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I’m here to amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?”

If you’ve ever asked that question, but in a sincere way, and not in a way that ends with someone being shot (don’t irritate Joe Pesci, even though he is obviously very funny), then we’ve got a competition for you.

RTÉ and Ray D’Arcy have launched a new talent competition, titled Stand Up And Be Funny, in search of some of the funniest people in Ireland.

So if you think you’re a proper LOL-cano, or if there is someone in your life that you reckon is the funniest fecker on the island, then all they need to do is send on a three-minute video by 4pm on Friday 25 October and the winner could be in with a chance of developing a new comedy series with RTÉ.

Applicants have to be at least 18 years old and the three-minute video they submit must consist of original material that hasn’t been broadcast on TV or radio before.

Also, the competition is looking for new Irish talent, so nobody who has been a part of the comedy circuit for over five years can apply and applicants must be citizens or legal resident of Ireland.

Full details of the competition can be found here.
