Rumour has it that Ben Affleck has agreed to star in a standalone Batman trilogy

Exciting news

Holy hype-train, Batman.

Proud nerd websites Den of Geek and Comic Book are reporting that an early screening of Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice exclusively for the executives of Warner Bros. was so impressive that they gave the film a standing ovation.

Reportedly, one of the executives hailed Ben Affleck’s performance as ‘the definitive Batman’. It is suggested that Warner Bros. have put their money where their mouth is by signing Affleck on to do three more standalone Batman films.

DC also intend to expand their movie universe by introducing the Suicide Squad next autumn, but if these reports are to be believed, Batman is going to continue his domination of the big-screen when it comes to DC movies.

As things stand, Affleck is already scheduled to reprise his role as Batman in Suicide Squad, as well as two additional Justice League features.

If all of this is true, it looks like we’ll be getting used to Affleck (who has a tendency to earn more praise for what he does off-screen) as The Dark Knight. Whether or not he can match Christian Bale’s exquisite portrayal of the Caped Crusader remains to be seen.
