Schitt’s Creek star Annie Murphy joins Russian Doll Season 2

Stephen Porzio

What a concept!

Annie Murphy of Schitt’s Creek fame is joining the cast of another acclaimed comedy by signing up to the second season of Netflix hit Russian Doll.

Focusing on the trials and tribulations of a New York woman (series co-creator Natasha Lyonne) who keeps dying and returning to a party being thrown in her honour that same evening, the Groundhog Day inspired show first premiered in 2019.

Immediately, it garnered rave reviews for its blend of humour and drama with Indiewire ranking it in the top 20 best shows of its decade.

Now, TVLine reports that Murphy will join the cast of its second season, on which production began last week.

There are no details yet on who she will be playing, though we here at JOE are certainly intrigued as to where Russian Doll will go in its next season given the first’s pretty much perfect ending.

Murphy is fresh off an Emmy win last year for her breakthrough role as spoiled socialite Alexis Rose on Schitt’s Creek.

The series, which also starred real-life father and son Eugene and Dan Levy along with Catherine O’Hara, recently wrapped up after six seasons.
