Season 4 of Rick and Morty looks set to arrive later than hoped

Paul Moore

Oh Jeez!

According to Mr. Poopybutthole himself in the season three finale, Rick and Morty season four will air “in like, a really long time… I might even have a big, white Santa Claus beard” and while the Christmas season has passed, it appears that fans of the show won’t be getting a late present.

Ryan Ridley, a writer and producer on Rick and Morty, appeared on the Detroit Cast, and he didn’t have good news to share about the state of season four.

According to Ridley, the writers for the series haven’t even started working on the new season.

“They really take their time. I never understood why everybody — all parties, Dan, Justin, and Adult Swim — didn’t get their shit together, and make the show fast,” said Ridley, jokingly.

Do you hear that, guys? Well then get your shit together, get it all together and put it in a backpack, all your shit, so it’s together. And if you gotta take it somewhere, take it somewhere, you know, take it to the shit store and sell it, or put it in the shit museum. I don’t care what you do, you just gotta get it together. Get your shit together.

Using the production time to create the previous seasons, Ridley stated that he would be surprised if the fourth season premiered before late 2019. Truth be told, we can understand the delay because the gap between the end of season two and the most recent season helped solidify the show as a global pop-culture phenomenon.

Hell, if they need a few years to create episodes that are as good as Pickle Rick, The Ricklantis Mixup, and Morty’s Mind Blowers then we’re happy to wait.
