If you’re a Harry Potter fan, this Fantastic Beasts reunion will make very, VERY good news

What a reunion this will be.

Fantastic Beasts

All the magic you need to know about the latest wizarding adventure.

In terms of solid starts to a new franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them did a really good job at establishing a new world while introducing audiences to new characters. Not to sound too geeky, but the production design was incredible and there were certain scenes that rivaled the Harry Potter franchise in terms of sheer spectacle and well, magic.

For example, the first moment that Newt Scamander journeys into his magical briefcase and reveals all the creatures inside was a breathtaking set-piece.

As we know, a film is nothing without a decent cast and in this case, Fantastic Beasts really delivered because it featured impressive turns from Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller and more.

This being said, as we all left the cinema, there was only one name on everyone’s lips.

Spoiler alert if you haven’t seen the film already.

Gellert Grindelwald is already well known to Harry Potter fans, but it appears that we’re finally going to see the long-awaited showdown between two of the most powerful wizards that have ever picked up a wand.

In the sequel to Fantastic Beasts, Newt Scamander and Albus Dumbledore will team together to fight Grindelwald.

Warner Bros. have announced plot details for the film and the action will pick up months after the events of Fantastic Beasts with Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) having escaped and “gathering more followers to his cause — elevating wizards above all non-magical beings.”

The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard that he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law)

Dumbledore might be incredibly skilled and gifted, but he’s going to need some help from the wizard that had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander.

We’re delighted to say that Tina (Katherine Waterston), Queenie (Alison Sudol) and Jacob (Dan Fogler) will all be returning, but Newt’s mission will also test their loyalties as his new friends face increasing danger in a divided and volatile wizarding world.

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is on screenplay duties for the sequel and you’ll be happy to know that David Yates, the man who directed the original feature and four other Harry Potter adventures, is back behind the camera as well.

If fans of J.K Rowling’s wizarding world weren’t excited enough, we’re also being promised “some surprising nods to the Harry Potter stories that will delight fans of the books and film series.”

The sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to debut in theaters 16 November 2018.
