Seth Rogen and Zac Efron go head-to-head in the new Red Band trailer for Neighbours

Everybody needs good Neighbours...

Eoghan Doherty

Before you get your hopes up too much, we have to warn you. This is not, we repeat, NOT, a big screen adaptation of the greatest Australian soap of all time, Neighbours. No cinematic Harold Bishop gold for you we’re afraid.

Now that we’ve got that devastating news out of the way, let’s continue.

Neighbours sees Seth Rogen’s mild-mannered family man go head-to-head with Zac Efron’s alpha male frat boy after the latter transforms a quiet suburban neighbourhood into party central for the local college.

People still say “party central”, right? Cool.

The great news is that the film is directed by the talented Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him To The Greek) and comes from the same immature, hilarious brains that brought us This Is The End, undoubtedly one of the best and funniest films of 2013 so far. You can read JOE’s excellent review here.

After a calm and serene opening lulls us into a false of security, the trailer goes just a teeny-weeny bit bonkers from the 32 second mark with balls in faces, really awkward baby compliments and an excellent airbag prank.

We reckon that this film’s baby might just need a bit of therapy when they grow up…

Neighbours is scheduled for a 2014 release.
