Plot's It All About? After the surprisingly huge box office of Aquaman, a lower-tier DC superhero movie directed by someone who is more well-known for helming scary movies, it is time for Shazam!, a lower-tier DC superhero movie, directed by someone who is more well-known for helming scary movies.
Here it tells the If-Big-Had-Superpowers story of a young boy who is granted magical abilities after he is deemed worthy of the title of Shazam!, but he soon crosses paths with super villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, and realises that it isn't all fun and games and flying about the place when the weight of the world has been put on your shoulders.
The new trailer really leans into the comedy of the set-up, with Shazam initially causing more problems than he is solving, plus the yelp of "Stop him, Batman!" is perfect.
And then there is that final gag, involving scaling building in a single leap, which is just comedy perfection. After a few years of DC getting lost in the dark and murky superhero worlds, it is great to see them land the lighter touch.
