Simon Pegg chats about Ready Player One, working with Spielberg, and that OTHER Simon Pegg

Rory Cashin

“Sperm.”

That is the very first thing we heard as we entered the London hotel room to interview Simon Pegg about his role in Steven Spielberg’s new mega-blockbuster, Ready Player One.

There was then a bit of an awkward moment, until Pegg clarified the context: that he and the cameraman were discussing the sad fate of the now-extinct White Rhino, and how the sperm of the species may have been frozen and could see it continue to live sometime in the future, Jurassic Park-style.

Hot topic out of the way, we got to the real task at hand, and discussed how Simon Pegg – who has already been a part of everything from Star Wars to Mission: Impossible – is a part of Ready Player One’s huge sci-fi story.

We talked A LOT about the highlights of Spielberg’s career, as well as the highlights of having Spielberg on set so you can just ask him about anything film-related you like in between takes.

The conversation also turned to that OTHER Simon Pegg, but we don’t want to spoil that for you, as you can check out our full chats right here:

Ready Player One arrives in Irish cinemas with special advance screenings from Wednesday 28 March, and goes on general release from Friday 30 March, and can we just suggest you go see it on the biggest screen you can, because the set-pieces in this movie are IMMENSE.

In case you missed it, here is the trailer for the movie:
