It’s Sunday!

Feeling fragile? Nursing a hangover? Don’t want to think about going to work tomorrow? We understand.

Our recommendation is that you get lost in a world of movies. We’ve chosen six of the best that are on the box tonight for your consideration.

Senna — ITV4 — 23.15

One of the best sports documentaries of recent times, detailing the career of Brazilian Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna. It’s a tense and tragic film that focuses on his rivalry with teammate Alain Prost and the circumstances surrounding his death at the San Marino Grand Prix. Must-watch.

Star Wars Episode V: the Empire Strikes Back — ITV2 — 18.25

ITV2 are continuing their run of Star Wars films tonight, and this evening’s offering might be the darkest of the whole bunch. Old-school lightsaber fights, the pre-CGI Yoda that looks like he was found in George Lucas’ nana’s attic and iconic, oft-misquoted “I am your father” line.

Kill Bill — Syfy — 22.00

One of Tarantino’s most Tarantino-y films in terms of sheer violence. Uma Thurman wears a cool leather jumpsuit, goes on a killing spree and makes a lot of wisecracks.

Finding Nemo — ITV2 — 16.20

Some of Pixar’s finest work. A daddy fish goes looking for his missing son with the help of the iconic, forgetful fish Dory, voiced unforgettably by Ellen Degeneres. Just keep swimming.

Thor — E4 — 21.00

The earlier Thor films might not live up to glory of Taika Waititi’s Thor Ragnarok, but the first in the series still features a top performance from Chris Hemsworth. With Avengers: Endgame coming out in April, now is the perfect time to reacquaint yourself with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A Man of No Importance — BBC One NI — 23.30

The wonderful Albert Finney passed away earlier this week, so it’s only right that there should be a tribute on air to the great man tonight. 1994 movie A Man of No Importance sees Finney play a closeted homosexual in 1960s Dublin. Also starring Brenda Fricker and Michael Gambon.
