Sophie Turner gives an update on when the final Game of Thrones season will air

We’re promised “huge surprises” in Season 8.

We all know that the final season of Game of Thrones is going to be exceptional, but Jason Momoa did a pretty good job of adding to the hype by saying that the final six episodes are “going to be the greatest thing that’s ever aired on TV”.

Now that’s praise that’s bigger than the Seven Kingdoms!

At present, Season 8 is currently filming but in a recent interview with Variety, Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) said that they’ve still got “six or seven months left” of filming.

Given the fact that there’s presumably going to be bigger battles, VFX, and dragons in Season 8, a significant amount of post-production time will also have to be factored in.

As The Great War approaches, it seems that we’re going to have to wait a while longer until the world’s most beloved show returns to our screens.

When asked about her upcoming slate, Turner said: “Yeah, I’m really excited. Game of Thrones comes out in 2019. Dark Phoenix is in November. Then I have a couple indie movies coming out. I’m a producer on my next movie (Girl Who Fell From the Sky). So I’m really excited about the future.”

While no specific premiere date was announced, the show usually airs in April (Season 3 aired on March 31) so that’s a clever shout – although Season 7 did air on July 16 of this year.

Truth be told, we don’t care when it airs once it matches the very best that Game of Thrones has previously offered.
