Stay calm but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has tested higher than any other Marvel film

It's shaping up to be the best Marvel film yet.

While we're not privy to the inner workings of Marvel Studios, we reckon that the recent screening of the eagerly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 went something like this. Marvel executives: The first one was such a success, have you managed to keep the same element of fun while upping the sense of adventure and scale? Groot: I am Groot. Marvel executives: Ok, but do you know how this movie will test with an audience that hasn't seen the original? Groot: I...am...Groot. Marvel executives: Right, erm....can you tell us if there was anything that James Gunn (director) did differently on set? Groot: (Angry tone) I AM GROOT. This happens. Despite the sad demise of those Marvel employees, we do have some good news to share because The Hollywood Reporter have reported that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has tested higher than any other Marvel film. Yep, that's right. It scored better than The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Captain America: Civil War, the first Guardians film and any other film that Marvel have released in the last nine years. The movie’s score? A perfect 100. The initial movie, released in 2014, was a massive critical and commercial hit, grossing $773 million worldwide and scoring 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
