“Magical folks here in Limerick.”
Matthew Modine, famous for his roles in the Netflix series Stranger Things and the Stanley Kubrick classic Full Metal Jacket, has been spotted hanging about Limerick.
Modine played Dr. Martin Brenner (Eleven’s “Papa”) in Stranger things and Private Joker in Full Metal Jacket.
Brenner’s status on the show is currently unclear, with some speculating that he is still alive.
When his presence in the Treaty County was noted on social media, Modine took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the place.

Modine also responded to a nice welcome message from Mayor of Limerick Daniel Butler.

One thing that Modine didn’t seem to be such a fan of, though, was Smugone’s masterpiece at King John’s Castle, which Modine referred to as a “one-eyed monstrosity,” throwing in a vomiting emoji for good measure.

Though maybe Modine was just having a laugh, as he did clarify that he’s in the city to make a film about art and creators of art.
