From red carpet premieres to deep space, Chris Pine is one man who knows how to dress for success

Actor Chris Pine has fulfilled the role of leading man on plenty of occasions, but perhaps he is most noted for his portrayal of Captain James T. Kirk in the hugely successful remakes of Star Trek from J. J. Abrams. While he’s not going to get too many points for the Starfleet uniform, he knows how to turn on the style when he’s not turning on the warp drive, so to celebrate the release of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit in cinemas this Friday, we decided to look at his most stylish moments, from the red carpet to the streets.

Pine comes from a showbiz family, where both his mother and father were both actors, and still are, as his father Robert lent his voice talents to the character of Bishop in Frozen at the end of last year. He was perhaps best known for his role in ChiPs as Sgt. Joseph Getraer.

His son Chris cut his teeth as a leading man in a few roles that might not go down as classic of cinema like the amazing Just My Luck with Lindsay Lohan, or Blind Dating, but when he was cast as Kirk, we saw quite a transformation. Not only did he become a little less clean-shaven and All-American, but he changed up his wardrobe, injecting some serious style and some absolutely amazing suits. The bigger bank balance probably helped on that front too, but whether he needs to go full black tie, or throw on a three piece for a movie premiere, he doesn’t seem to miss a beat.

Pine tends to choose from a few different colour suits, as he’s pretty adaptable and can pull off anything from charcoal to black and even brown, as he was wearing when he was on the red carpet for his latest release, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit , which hits cinemas here in Ireland this Friday.

Even when he’s a bit more relaxed, his style is still on point, even if the particular snap above was for Esquire UK, and he was unlikely to show up looking like a scruff. Still, in a great summer look, Pine manages to show that he doesn’t just look good in a suit, he can also mix it up with something a bit more casual. It also helps if you’re really, really ridiculously good looking too, like Chris or JOE.

He knows that he can work with a variety of different shades, but as you’ll notice with almost all of his looks, he adds a little embellishment with an accessory like a pocket square or a bright tie, that breathes life into the outfit and makes the whole thing stand out a bit. His orange tie and blue polka dot pocket square are a step outside the norm on his navy suit, and the splash of purple added to his grey three-piece is brave, but he pulls it off. Even when he goes full on black-tie, he’s not afraid of some colour, as he opted for a midnight blue tux at a gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York last year.

Chris Pine is most definitely the man of the moment however, no matter what style he opts for, as he is the face of not only the Star Trek franchise, but also Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (in cinemas this Friday), which is based on the books of Tom Clancy. Together, Hollywood looks to have invested around $250 million in Pine and his ability to draw in audiences, which is looking like a bet that’s definitely going to pay off.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (12A) is in cinemas everywhere from 24th January 2014.
