Fair play, Renee. Fair play indeed…
Regular viewers of The Chase would’ve been forgiven for changing the channel during Wednesday’s show.
Chaser Shaun Wallace (aka the Dark Destroyer) had made light work of the first three contestants, knocking them all out ahead of the final round. It already seemed as good as over. The chances of the last remaining contestant making it to the final chase – let alone winning it – appeared incredibly slim.
Despite this, the final contestant, Renee, survived her head-to-head, earning £5,000 in the process.
Following this, she posted an impressive 19 points in the final round. With the Dark Destroyer faltering in the final chase, she was able to secure an incredible victory with eight push backs.
“Well played, an extraordinary performance,” remarked host Bradley Walsh.
Unsurprisingly, her solo performance had impressed many of those watching…
That was THE best chase I have ever seen! Unbelievable!! #TheChase

Some were so impressed, they even went as far as suggesting Renee should be recruited as a new chaser.
Renee should be a new chaser!!! 💯✔️✔️✔️✔️ #thechase @ITV @ITVChase

However, as is often the case with this sort of thing, not everyone was impressed. Instead of joining in with everyone else, Danny here suggested such an incredible performance was the result of a fix. There’s always one…
Anyone else think that final chase looked set up? #TheChase fix written all over it!
