Incredible road trip drama film with 92% Rotten Tomatoes score is on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

The movie is based on a true story and is also currently streaming on Netflix.

Our TV movie pick for tonight (Saturday, 28 September) is The End of the Tour, the excellent 2015 road trip drama starring Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network).

Based on a memoir by David Lipsky, Eisenberg plays the writer and journalist in the film – which details the couple of days Lipsky spent with acclaimed author David Foster Wallace (Segel).

Lipsky joined Wallace on the book tour for his legendary breakthrough novel Infinite Jest as part of a feature for Rolling Stone magazine.

During their time together, the writers discuss literature, popular music and film, fame and depression.

Directed by James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now), The End of the Tour is a must-watch for anyone interested in journalism and writing.

Also helping it stand out from the pack of similar biographical dramas is its road trip narrative and its two never-better central performances from Eisenberg and Segel.

Holding a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score, The End of the Tour is airing on TV tonight on TG4 at 9.50pm. It is also available to stream on Netflix.
