Meath could be playing host to some of the world’s biggest stars next month.

People of Meath! How would you react if you bumped into Matt Damon when you were on the way to the shop for a chicken roll?

Or if you stumbled across Ben Affleck on a jog in the local park?

Well we’re not saying that’s definitely going to happen next month, but … it’s DEFINITELY going to happen next month.

The Meath Chronicle has reported that the Bective Bridge in Meath will be the location of filming for upcoming movie The Last Duel, starring Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Jodie Comer and Ben Affleck.

The bridge will reportedly be closed from 23-30 March so that filming for the Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Alien) blockbuster can take place.

Set in 14th century France, The Last Duel is about a woman who claims she has been raped by her husband’s best friend, but when no one believes her accusation, her husband challenges the aforementioned friend to a duel.

Sounds like an interesting movie, made all the more fascinating by the addition of MEATH.

Bective Bridge was also used for shooting in the movie Braveheart.

The Last Duel is scheduled to arrive in Irish cinemas on 8 January 2021.
