#TheNorthAwaits: JOE’s Game of Thrones podcast on the penultimate episode – how is it going to end?

The only Game of Thrones podcast you need.

The North Awaits returns this evening as Michael Fry and Carl Kinsella are joined by Rory Cashin (of The Big Reviewski fame) to contemplate the aftermath of what might be the show’s most devastating ever episode.

From the beheading of Ned Stark to the Red Wedding, Game of Thrones has never been afraid to subvert expectations. In Season 8, Episode 5, the showed turned those expectations on their head and then some.

Daenerys is the Mad Queen that the late Lord Varys feared she would be. She has reduced King’s Landing to rubble and killed both Cersei and Jaime Lannister in the process. Qyburn, The Hound, The Mountain and Euron Greyjoy all join the ranks of the dead.

Jon, Tyrion, Davos and Arya survived… but it seems like each of them are utterly disgusted with the actions of their queen. So, what the hell is going to happen now? Game of Thrones has roughly 90 minutes to work it all out.

On this week’s episode, our hosts debate whether or not Dany’s turn as the Mad Queen made sense, was the episode even any good in the first place, and how we’re set up for the show’s finale next week.

If you’ve got thoughts on tonight’s truly bonkers episode of Game of Thrones, The North Awaits is the podcast for you.
