#TheNorthAwaits: JOE’s Game of Thrones podcast predicts The Night King isn’t where we think he is

Where in the world is The Night King?

Here at The North Awaits, JOE’s Game of Thrones podcast, we’re in the business of wild theories that are just crazy enough to sound plausible.

On tonight’s episode, following Season 8 Episode 2 (A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms), the lads speculate that The Night King could be about to catch us all off guard. But not at Winterfell.

Episode 2 ended with The White Walkers on the threshold of Winterfell… but The Night King and his big giant dead dragon Viserion were nowhere to be seen. That’s more than a bit curious.

On The North Awaits, hosts Carl Kinsella and Michael Fry suggest that Bran’s theory that The Night King will seize him in the Godswood might not be correct. To stop the army of the dead, the living have to kill The Night King, so it makes sense that he’d want to hang back from the biggest battle in televised history.

While a large cohort of his forces are at Winterfell, the main man himself could be using his dragon to fly literally anywhere else on earth to achieve his goals.

We’ve seen this strategy many times on Game of Thrones before. Robb Stark used it to defeat the Lannisters at Whispering Wood, and the Lannisters themselves later used it to take Highgarden.

The question then becomes, where is The Night King going? If he turns up at King’s Landing, he could pretty much double his army of the dead. It seems very optimistic to think that the living will simply be able to trick The Night King into seizing Bran in the Godswood…

We suspect he’s got something else up his sleeve.
