We’ve got some bad news for fans of the Bad Boys movies

Bad Boys 3

In a world inundated by sequels, reboots and remakes, the prospect of Bad Boys III was actually rather exciting.

You can dunk on Michael Bay all you like, but there’s no denying that the Bad Boys movies are balls-to-the-walls, action-tastic fun. That’s all we’ve ever wanted and it’s all we’ve ever asked for.

For a while it seemed like Bad Boys III was a done deal. Columbia Pictures had a script and a couple of directors on the cards, and even had assigned Bad Boys III a release date of February 17, 2017, a date that you’ll notice has long gone by.

Release was pushed back to June 2017 (also gone), then again to January 2018, then again to November 2018. Now, unfortunately, it’s been taken off Sony’s release slate, meaning that it’s not currently scheduled for release at all.

Joe Carnahan (Narc, The Grey, Smokin’ Aces) had been lined up to take over the director’s chair since Bay is so busy making Transformers movies lately, but he dropped out of the project recently, which left a big question mark over whether the movie would actually get made at all.

According to Deadline, the script is being tweaked, and Will Smith is still interested in starring, but for now, it looks like Bad Boys will not be coming for you, whatever you decide to do.
