Three Game of Thrones characters mysteriously returned on set during filming of the last episode

They were only used to create fake spoilers but we’d love for one of them take the throne.

As always, spoilers are coming.

And now our watch has ended.

After eight seasons, Game of Thrones has come to an end and much like Jon Snow as he currently gazes into the vast, empty, and snowy plains beyond The Wall, we’re wondering what’s next?

Well, there’s Jane Goldman’s prequel that’s in the works – the pilot starts filming this summer – but before we all say goodbye to Westeros, there’s the small matter of a thank you.

Granted, niceties usually gets you nowhere in Game of Thrones, but Jeanie Finlay’s documentary Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is a beautiful love letter to all the people that worked so hard on the show.

From the first day on set right up until the last, the fly on the wall documentary charts every stage of production on Season 8 and in terms of important moments, it’s arguable that the scene at the Dragonpit is the most significant one for the future of Westeros.

Of course, we know that the sequence culminated in ‘Bran the Broken’ being elected as the new King of the Six Kingdoms, but to remove the threat of legitimate spoilers leaking from the set, the producers actually flew in a few other actors to appear in Seville, just to create ‘fake spoilers’.

Kit Harington was also in Spain during filming but he wasn’t on the set. His presence was mainly used to create a distraction as fans flocked to his hotel.

However, Tom Wlaschiha (Jaqen H’ghar), Faye Marsay (The Waif) and Vladimir Furdik (The Night King) were all present on the Dragonpit set as the final episode was filming.

The explanation for this subterfuge was as follows: “It’s very hard to keep the cast quiet because when in Spain, you must eat and drink. So, they’re going to be out and about. So, we’ve brought in a few ringers.

“We have the Waif coming in because so many people think Arya is dead and the Waif killed her. We also have Jaqen who is also another House Of Black And White character. We have The Night King here. Not quite sure what he’d be saying. They won’t know what’s happening. It’ll be a big surprise no matter what”

Truth be told, part of our sadistic dreams were crushed when the Night King perished after the Battle of Winterfell. Wouldn’t the below image have been a cooler ending than seeing Bran on the throne?

Ah well.

Anyway, you can view the relevant segment about the fake spoilers below.
