Tonight’s selection of movies on TV is a very, very mixed bag

We’re approaching the weekend and that means you’re either going out or staying in.

If you’re staying in, well, this is what will greet you on the movie front this evening.

Sahara – Film4 – 6.40pm

Matthew McConaughey, before he lost all the weight for Dallas Buyers Club, playing a very Matthew McConaughey role for the time.

He’s a lot better nowadays.

Rambo: Last Blood – Virgin Media One – 9pm

Why won’t they just let John Rambo live in peace?

Or alternatively, why won’t they let a franchise die in peace?

Cobra – ITV2 – 9pm

Stallone once again.

Yeah, at some point, you just have to consider the fact that he might just be a bad father.

Sam Whiskey – TG4 – 9.05pm

A widow hires an ex-gambler to retrieve gold bars from a sunken river boat in Colorado and discreetly return them to the Federal Mint, from where they had been stolen by her dead husband.

The Butcher Boy – RTÉ2 – 9.55pm

Francie has a disastrous childhood and retreats into television and movies to escape the pain.

Wildly looking to hold someone responsible for all the trauma visited on him, Francie targets his neighbour, Mrs. Nugent.
