Toy Story 4 has finally received a release date

Michael Lanigan

Those toys have definitely gathered a bit of dust by now.

It’s been eight whole years since Toy Story 3 left Pixar fans weeping and hungry for more, but it looks as if the wait for Buzz and Woody to return shouldn’t be much longer.

That’s right, the studio has finally confirmed that 21 June 2019 will be the official release date for the fourth installment in its most famous series via the new film’s official Facebook page.

The original film was released in 1995, with its main characters, toys Buzz Lightyear and Woody, belonging to a boy named Andy. In the third film however, the epic story of miniature proportions ended with Andy moving on to college, but not before passing his toys on to a young girl named Bonnie, who is expected to feature in the new film.

Little else is known about the film, since the producers are remaining extremely tight-lipped about its script right now.

The good news though is that Tom Hanks will be returning to voice Woody, so at least this confirms that the story won’t involve everyone’s favourite toy cowboy disappearing, as was the case with Bo Peep and Wheezy in Toy Story 3.

Until then, we are fairly sure some of you will be counting down the days
