This movie looks deadly, in more ways than one…
Lone Survivor is a war pic based on the true story of ‘Operation Red Wings’, a failed US Navy SEAL Team mission that took place in the Pech District of Afghanistan’s Kunar Province, on the slopes of a mountain named Sawtalo Sar back in 2005.
The movie follows a team of four Navy SEALs, Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, Petty Officer Second Class Danny P. Dietz, Petty Officer Second Class Matthew G. Axelson and Navy Hospital Corpsman Second Class Marcus Luttrell, as they attempt to capture or kill notorious Taliban leader, Ahmad Shahd.
Sadly, for the Navy SEALs in question, the mission didn’t quite go to plan when they were faced with a moral choice that would eventually lead to their downfall…
Lone Survivor stars Mark Wahlberg, Ben Foster, Eric Bana and was written and directed by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Battleship). You can expect to see it in Irish cinemas on January 31, 2014.
