“Actually, we’re better when we’re sober, but it’s not as much fun so we get drunk.”

The official trailer has been released for the eagerly anticipated new film, Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan.

Overseen by the multi-award-winning and critically acclaimed director Julien Temple and produced by Johnny Depp, the film is described as “a cinematic exploration” of Shane MacGowan.

The official synopsis reads:

“Combining interviews, previously unseen archive footage and specially commissioned animations with an impressive soundtrack, the documentary details Shane’s explosive existence from his early days growing up in Ireland, to time spent on the mean streets of London and embracing the punk scene, to forming The Pogues. We discover MacGowan’s passions, humour, and deep knowledge of music, history, spirituality, and popular culture. “

The movie tracks the life of Shane MacGowan from his early days in Ireland, to his move to London and the eventual elevation to superstardom.

Speaking about the film previously, Depp said he was delighted to be able to bring MacGowan’s story to the big screen.

“Knowing Shane for 30 years, I am honoured to be producing the definitive film on both my friend and one of the most important artists and beloved poets of the 20th century,” Depp said.

It’s set for release in cinemas in the UK on 20 November and will be in Irish cinemas when they reopen.
