The trailer for the Winnie-the-Pooh horror movie needs to be seen to be believed

Stephen Porzio

This certainly ain’t your daddy’s Winnie-the-Pooh.

The first trailer has hit the web for the Winnie-the-Pooh horror movie and boy, is it wild.

Titled Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, the film is said to follow a feral Pooh and Piglet as they go on a rampage after Christopher Robin abandons them to go to college.

It also appears from the trailer that a group of young women on holiday in the countryside wind up on the receiving end of Pooh and Piglet’s violent spree.

For those wondering how this movie can be, its existence has been made possible thanks to A.A. Milne’s 1926 children’s book Winnie-the-Pooh entering into the public domain in the United States at the start of this year.

That said, Blood and Honey’s versions of Pooh and Piglet are not able to resemble Disney’s interpretation of the characters which are still protected under copyright, hence why the pair look so different in the teaser below.

Asked about this in an interview with Variety, the movie’s writer-director Rhys Waterfield said: “No one is going to mistake this [for Disney].”

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey does not have an official release date but is said to be “coming soon” to DVD and video on demand.
