#TRAILERCHEST : Domhnall Gleeson’s new horror film, The Little Stranger, looks creepy as hell

Paul Moore

The Little Stranger

From the Oscar-nominated Irish director of Room. This looks great.

After making waves with films like Adam and Paul, Garage, and Frank, Lenny Abrahamson grabbed the world’s attention with his wonderful adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s novel, Room.

Truth be told, the drama is still one of the most powerful and stirring films that has been released in years and he’s about to follow that up with an eery horror that looks set to get under your skin.

The first trailer for The Little Stranger has been released and we’re delighted to see that Abrahamson and the wonderful Domhnall Gleeson are working together again. This could be something special.

Plot’s it all about?: The Little Stranger tells the story of Dr Faraday, the son of a housemaid, who has built a life of quiet respectability as a country doctor. During the long hot summer of 1948, he is called to a patient at Hundreds Hall, where his mother once worked. The Hall has been home to the Ayres family for more than two centuries. But it is now in decline and its inhabitants – mother, son and daughter – are haunted by something more ominous than a dying way of life. When he takes on his new patient, Faraday has no idea how closely, and how disturbingly, the family’s story is about to become entwined with his own.

Cast: Domhnall Gleeson, Ruth Wilson, Will Poulter, Charlotte Rampling, Anna Madeley, Kate Phillips.

Director: Lenny Abrahamson.

Release date: August 31.

Enjoy!
