#TRAILERCHEST: The brand new trailer for Blade Runner 2049 is mouth-wateringly good

Can it live up to the hype?

Blade Runner 2049

Damn, this looks impressive.

As far as the most anticipated movies of 2017 are concerned, Dunkirk and Blade Runner 2049 are most certainly at the top of the list.

One of them officially goes on release on Friday (and has already been garnering brilliant reviews) and in the same week, a trailer has been released for the other, which provides a jaw-dropping snippet of what’s to come in October.

Harrison Ford, the original blade runner, who’s been missing for 30 years, features prominently in the latest trailer alongside a successor, Ryan Gosling, who’s keen to find out the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and what he’s been up to in the three decades or so since.

If it can live up to the promise delivered in the trailer (see bottom of the page), then it should be a triumph.

Roll on 6 October.

Plot’s it all about: 30 years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Cast: Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, with Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.

Director: Denis Villeneuve

Irish release date: 6 October 2017
