Much like the ominous threat in X2 and Days of Future Past, whenever you see Magneto struggling to contain a situation and getting his ass kicked, you know that something bad is about to happen.
Well, after X-Men: The Last Stand sort of fluffed its lines with the Dark Phoenix angle for Jean Grey’s character, it appears they’re about to do justice to the famous comic book story.
Aside from seeing a fully bald Professor X and seeing Beast, well, unleash the beast, the latest trailer is an absolute doozy as it shows all of Jean’s devastating powers.
Plot’s it all about?:Â In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey, as played by Game of Thrones favourite Sophie Turner.
During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable.
Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain.

Directed by:Â Simon Kinberg, making his directorial debut having previously penned First Class, Days of Future Past and Apocalypse. He also helped write this one.
