#TRAILERCHEST: First look at Handsome Devil, potentially the best Irish movie of 2017

Rory Cashin

2016 was a fantastic year for Irish cinema, but by the looks of things 2017 is going to be even better.

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Handsome Devil.

Plot’s it all about?

When he is removed from his regular school and placed into a boarding school, the not-particularly sporty Ned (Fionn O’Shea) finds that he is now roommates with rugby star Conor (Nicholas Galitzine), a young man who has a few issues with anger management. While they should be destined for a bully/bullied relationship, they end up secretly becoming best friends, but Conor’s rugby pals are out to make sure the friendship doesn’t last.

From writer/director John Butler, the local legend behind the surprise hit Irish comedy The Stag, this has already been getting some majorly good reviews from the festival circuit around the world, and has been chosen as the closing gala film for the Audi Dublin International Film Festival when it takes place later this month.

Starring: Moe Dunford, Andrew Scott, Amy Huberman, Fionn O’Shea, Nicholas Galitzine, Michael McElhatton

Directed by: John Butler

Irish release date: April TBD (but the Irish premiere takes place on 26 February)

Enjoy…
