#TRAILERCHEST: The first look at Mission: Impossible – Fallout promises a tense, tight thriller

Who will go rogue this time?

Welcome to #TRAILERCHEST, where we’re taking a sneak peak at the trailer for Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

Plot’s it all about?

The sixth entry in the wildly popular Mission: Impossible franchise concerns the, er, fallout from a botched mission in Berlin, and Ethan Hunt’s latest desperate attempt to put things right and save the world from certain doom.

As usual, Tom Cruise has gone all-in, performing death-defying stunts and banging himself up in the process. One such escapade is glimpsed in the below trailer, which resulted in the megastar shattering his ankle. Ouch.

The man suffers for his art, and the M:I series has developed into one of the most enjoyable and exciting around, largely because all the players know precisely what kind of movie they’re making – the trailer even has a bit where it mentions the ridiculous amount of times that Hunt has been disavowed or betrayed by his own government – and how the tone should come across.

Fallout appears to be focusing more on tense thrills than outright action heroics, but then there is that bit with the helicopter, so Fallout should prove a good mix of old-school intrigue and modern mayhem.

With Christopher McQuarrie back on board after 2015’s Rogue Nation, we’re expecting big things.

Starring: Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin, Angela Bassett, Sean Harris, Ving Rhames, Michelle Monaghan and Henry Cavill’s moustache.

Directed by: Christopher McQuarrie

Irish release date: 27 July

Enjoy!
