#TRAILERCHEST: Jim Carrey returns to the screen in an extremely dark murder mystery

Paul Moore

Jim Carrey

His first film in four years and it’s very different to what you’d expect.

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Dark Crimes.

Jim Carrey’s last leading role in a narrative film was Dumb and Dumber To and in that time, he has been cleared of any wrongdoing relating to the death of Cathriona White and provoked the ire of Donald Trump.

After earning impressive reviews for starring in the Netflix documentary about Andy Kauffman, the actor is in familiar territory with his next film – a murder mystery that feels like a cross between The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo and Carrey’s previous work on The Number 23.

Plot’s it all about? : A tormented police officer named Tadek (Carrey) discovers an unsolved murder but this sex crime is eerily similar to a famous novel by author Krystov Kozlow (Marton Csokas). Tadek sets out on a mission to link Kozlow to the murder, but his investigation leads to a dangerous fascination with the author and his girlfriend, a mysterious sex club worker played by Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Cast: Jim Carrey, Marton Csokas, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kati Outinen, Vlad Ivanov, Agata Kulesza.

Director: Alexandros Avranas

Release date: May 11th
