#TRAILERCHEST: Jojo Rabbit will have you laughing at the most evil scum that ever lived

Paul Moore

Jojo Rabbit

From the director of Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Thor: Ragnarok, and What We Do In The Shadows. Enough said.

Nazis are assholes.

Taika Waititi fully understands this and that’s why he’s taking the piss out of Hitler in his new WW2 satire, Jojo Rabbit.

After reenergising the Thor franchise with Rangnarok – Korg is still the greatest supporting character in the MCU – the New Zealander is back and his signature style of humour and pathos is definitely intact.

With a CV that boasts the likes of Boy, Eagle vs. Shark, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Thor: Ragnarok and What We Do In The Shadows, we really don’t care what he directs because we’ll watch it anyway.

Thankfully, he has never steered us wrong before.

Granted, most films about Nazis aren’t particularly funny – Inglorious Basterds certainly had its moments – but we’re supremely confident that Waititi will lampoon them in his own indomitable way.

Nazis should be ridiculed. Nazis are about to be skewered.

Plot’s it all about?: The film is a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy (Roman Griffin Davis as Jojo), whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in her attic.

Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo must confront his blind nationalism.
