"Pretty doesn't matter. It is just a tool women use." "For what?" "Anything we want."
Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we're taking a sneak peek at the first official trailer for The Kitchen.
Plot it's all about:
It is New York in the 1970s, and a group of gangster have been imprisoned for their crimes for two years. Instead of waiting for them to get out, their wives - played by McCarthy, Haddish, and Moss - decide to take matters into their own hands, and continue operating the gang themselves.
Initially they are met with anger and competition, but soon the other mobs in New York see that these women are smarter and more vicious than the men they've replaced, and can see that they could actually pose a bigger problem than they realised.
The directorial debut of Berloff (the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Straight Outta Compton), this does represent a very different take on the gangster epics we're used to seeing, plus we get to see these three actresses (particularly McCarthy and Haddish, both queens of comedy) in a very different light.
Plus it has Ireland's own Domhnall Gleeson in there!
We fully expect this to get some serious Oscar buzz closer to the time of release.
Director: Andrea Berloff
Starring: Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, Elisabeth Moss, Domhnall Gleeson, Common, James Badge Dale
Release Date: Friday 20 September
