#TRAILERCHEST: Oh, we guess Angel Has Fallen isn’t a remake of Air Force One, after all

Olympus Has Fallen 3 still looks as bonkers as we’d hoped.

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Angel Has Fallen.

Plot’s it all about?

Listen, we’re as surprised as anyone that this franchise has made it to a third movie, but we’re not complaining. The original – Olympus Has Fallen – has a hyper-violent, knife-to-the-brain blast of a movie. The sequel, London Has Fallen, wasn’t nearly as good, but still managed to make over double its budget at the box office, so here we are.

Based on the title, and (what turned out to be fake) posters online, we’d all assumed that Angel Has Fallen was going to put Secret Service agent Gerard Butler on Air Force One, but apparently the Angel is the title is referring to… Gerard Butler himself?

He is NO angel, but again, we’re not complaining.

This time, he’s protecting the new president, Morgan Freeman (last time he was president, an asteroid smashed into Earth, so… he is obviously a bad luck omen in the Oval Office), and he gets framed for an assassination attempt on his life, even though Butler was the man who saved his life?

The BLANK Has Fallen franchise has never been about amazing plots, though. It was always about great, nasty action scenes and over-the-top villains, and this time we’re introduced to Gerard Butler’s equally-handy-in-a-fight Dad, played by the iconic Nick Nolte.

Yep, it looks bonkers, and we’re 100% here for it.

Starring: Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lance Reddick, Tim Blake Nelson, Piper Perabo, with Nick Nolte, and Danny Huston

Directed by: Ric Roman Waugh

Irish release date: Friday 23 August

Enjoy!
