TRAILERCHEST: ROSIE looks like it might be one of the most important movies of 2018

Rudi Kinsella

ROSIE

The trailer captures the heartbreak of Ireland’s housing crisis perfectly.

Homelessness may be the biggest issue facing people the people of Ireland in 2018.

On Wednesday we reported that there are now 9,981 homeless people living in Ireland, 3,867 of them being children.

This breaks the previous record, which was set in June of this year.

Which means that ROSIE is coming out at the perfect time…

Plot’s it all about?

ROSIE tells the story of a mother in Ireland doing everything she can to look after her children after their landlord sells their rented home.

Rosie and her partner struggle to find anywhere to stay and ultimately end up living out of their car.

By the looks of the trailer, we can expect some heartbreaking moments. The more harrowing of the scenes in the trailer comes when Rosie’s children recognise their old home and refuse to leave despite the fact that they don’t live there anymore.

Devastating stuff.

Written by Roddy Doyle, the film looks to explore the horrifying reality that the housing crisis currently has on so many people in Ireland.

Starring: Sarah Greene (Penny Dreadful, Rebellion, Black 47), and Moe Dunford (Vikings, Handsome Devil).

Directed by: Paddy Breathnach.

Irish release date: 12 October

Enjoy…
