#TRAILERCHEST: The new trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will bring magic back into your life

Carl Kinsella

It’s been too long since we had a little magic on our screens.

Or, at least, JK Rowling’s particularly special brand of magic.

The first full-length trailer for Harry Potter spin-off movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was released on Wednesday afternoon and it looks like it’ll be the return to magic that we’ve all been clamouring for.

Eddie Redmayne stars as Newt Scamander, author of the Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a British wizard who inadvertently sets a load of magical monsters loose in America. Judging by the trailer, he ends up attracting the attention of a rather menacing Auror played by Irish actor Colin Farrell.

The references to the original series are slim, with one mention of Dark wizard and former friend of Albus Dumbledore Gellert Grindelwald and a few bars of the famous Harry Potter theme music reserve for the very end.
