I Know What You Did Last Summer

“Someone knows their secret, someone knows they’re scared… and someone knows what they did last summer.”

So went the tag-line for the rather self-explanatory 1997 horror movie I Know What You Did Last Summer, which horror fans of a certain age will be delighted to learn is making a comeback… in TV form.

The late ‘90s was something of a golden age for the horror genre, producing iconic flicks such as Scream, Urban Legend and The Blair Witch Project.

The screenplay for I Know What You Did Last Summer came from the man behind Scream, Kevin Williamson, and you couldn’t have cobbled together a more-1997 cast if you tried, with Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr. all playing starring roles.

23 years on, it’s making a return to television on Amazon Prime, with a modern take on the movie from Sony Pictures Television set to stream in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The premise for the TV series follows a similar theme to the movie, which was based on a 1973 novel by Lois Duncan.

A group of teenagers are stalked by a mysterious killer a year after a fatal accident on their graduation night, with chilling consequences. There’s no sign of a release date just yet, but watch this space.

“The best horror franchises always have another scare coming, and this I Know What You Did Last Summer series from Sara Goodman is a perfectly twisted update to the iconic slasher movie,” said Albert Cheng, COO and Co-Head of Television, Amazon Studios.

“Any way you slice it, our global Prime Video customers will love this modern take on the fan favourite film.”
