American filmmaker Joel Schumacher has died at the age of 80, NBC News confirmed on Monday evening (22 June). Schumacher had been suffering from cancer for a year. Schumacher is best known for directing several beloved movies, including Veronica Guerin. Schumacher also directed underrated 80s brat pack classic St. Elmo's Fire, Falling Down as well as Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin. Schumacher also worked twice with Irish actor Colin Farrell, casting him in Tigerland and Phone Booth.
