Video: Channing Tatum attempts hilariously bad Mexican accent in new teaser clip for 22 Jump Street

Remember Brad Pitt’s attempts to put on an Italian accent in Inglourious Basterds? Yeah, this is probably worse.

Remember Brad Pitt’s attempts to put on an Italian accent in Inglourious Basterds? Yeah, this is probably worse.

Like Pitt in that movie, however, at least Tatum is deliberately putting on a bad accent and not going all Tom Cruise in Far and Away on us in the latest teaser clip for 22 Jump Street, the much-anticipated follow-up to 21 Jump Street, the 2011 movie adaptation of the late 80s, early 90s TV series.

Tatum and Jonah Hill are back as Greg Jenko and Morton Schmidt and this time they’ve been tasked with going undercover at a college campus as opposed to a high school, which will, no doubt, inspire plenty of Animal House style antics along the way.

In the latest teaser clip for MTV, Jenko and Schmidt attempt to infiltrate a Latino drug gang by pretending to be Mexican drug dealers themselves but while Schmidt does a more than passable impersonation, Jenko isn’t so comfortable with accents.

Coming on the back of the very amusing official trailer from a few months ago, this only adds to the promise and anticipation surrounding what could be one of the comedy hits of the year and thankfully, it will be released on this side of the world in a little under two months’ time.

We can’t wait.
