Which video game do you think would make a great movie?

And while you’re at it, tell us who you’d cast in the lead role.

With the arrival of Sonic The Hedgehog in cinemas this week, we got to thinking about the history of video games turned into movies.

There have been some truly terrible ones: Alone In The Dark, House Of The Dead, Double Dragon, Wing Commander, Hitman,

There have been some terrible ones that accidentally became enjoyable: Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Super Mario Bros., Doom.

And there have been some actually kind of okay ones: Pokemon Detective Pikachu, Warcraft, Rampage, Silent Hill.

But there haven’t been any genuinely GREAT movies based on video games. So to that end, we want to know what games do you think would make for a properly brilliant movie, and who would you cast in the lead role?

That was the Big Question on this week’s episode of The Big Reviewski, and you can watch the gang’s picks from 05:10 in the video below:

Because Eoghan asked the question, he gets to answer first, and he went with Metal Gear Solid. Funnily enough, even though Justine wasn’t about for this week’s episode, she still sent in her answer remotely, and she too went for Metal Gear Solid, although they both went for two different actors for the lead role of Solid Snake. Eoghan went for Liam Hemsworth, while Justine went for Brad Pitt, both different from the director of the movie (which is currently in pre-production), who reportedly offered the part to Oscar Isaac.

Next up, special guest Bla went for Wii Sports. Or more specifically, Wii Tennis. How do you make a game out of Wii Tennis, you might ask? Well, that is for Hollywood to figure out. However, as Bla correctly points out, you have to make the lead character in Wii Tennis yourself, so the question is… who is going to play Bla? And her answer is… beyond amazing.

And finally, Rory went with Bioshock. The plot lends itself really easily to the big screen treatment, and the movie was almost being made at one point, under director Gore Verbinksi (Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Ring), but the producers apparently pulled the plug when they feared a big budget, highly violent movie wouldn’t make any movie. Since then, many big budget, highly violent movies have made A LOT of money, so hopefully this will come around to being made again. As for who the lead the star should be? There is some debate over whether Knives Out co-stars Daniel Craig or Chris Evans should take it on.
